We just started blogging at Extraprise, and I thought I was due for an update. It seems like dog years since my last post. At that time I was moving back into "traditional" employment after running my own consulting practice since 2001, but based on some fortunate circumstances (read: I found an incredible woman, Kari, and got married); it seemed like the right time to consider some more traditional roles. As the acorn doesn't fall far from the tree, I find myself working again with some folks from Interleaf, which is where I worked most of the 90's.
I lead the marketing effort at Extraprise, and though I had spent a considerable amount of my career marketing and selling, including a stint as the VP of Marketing and Strategy at BroadVision, it's been quite a curve to move from consulting to marketing, but there are great people around, and the company has a tremendous legacy and a stable of satisfied customers, and most importantly a unique view of the marketplace and strategic approach that provides a great foundation on which to build value.
Work has its challenges, and it's certainly cut into my summer fun, but I'm riding a wave that has lots of promise and enjoying what I do. I just need to remind myself to find some balance.
